Wildflower Seed Bombs
These seed bombs are made with 100% scrap materials and native wildflower seeds, so you can feel good about planting them! They will attract birds, butterflies, bees and other pollinators of all kinds, which is so important for a healthy ecosystem! Seeds may vary from one seed bomb to another, so it will be a surprise when your flowers appear! Some seed bombs are meant for planting in the sun, and some are meant for partial shade.
Full sun - no specific marking on seed bomb
Partial shade - indicated by blue "dot" on brown side of seed bomb
Instructions and Tips
- Spring is the best time to plant seed bombs (after the danger of frost). They can be planted in soil or in a pot.
- Plant just before a heavy rainfall (especially if rain is forecasted for a few days) to help the seeds germinate.
- Do not bury your seed bomb more than 1/4 inch below soil. You can even choose to leave them uncovered and just place them gently into the surface of the soil.
- If you're planting multiple seed bombs, spread them at least 1 foot apart.
- You can soak the seed bomb in water until it softens and then plant. If you want to plant chunks of the seed bomb, you can disperse pieces once it starts falling apart.
- You'll want to water daily to keep the area wet until the seeds begin to germinate.
- Do not let the seed bomb or surrounding soil dry out leading up to germination.
- Once you see the plant begin to sprout, you'll want to water about once a day to ensure the soil is kept moist (not waterlogged).
- Avoid hard, compacted soil. Avoid lawn or any meadow where other things are already growing.
- If there is nothing else growing in an area, odds are, the wildflowers won't grow either! Choose carefully!
